The Fort Scratchley Historical Society has a vast collection of artifacts which have been acquired over the years.
The objects illustrate life in the Fort since 1882 but part of the collection also relates to Newcastle local and military history.
This collection is presently being re-documented and refurbished and this will take some time to complete.
Currently, we are planning the best ways to display the artifacts now the fort is reopened.

Photographs that are displayed on this website and throughout the entire site are copyright material of the Fort Scratchley Historical Society.
They may only be used for non commercial, non profit purposes such as school projects etc. If you require copies of these photos for any other purpose, please contact us so that we may make the high quality originals available to you.
Room Exhibition ProjectThe full project will ultimately be displayed in the 6 rooms of the Commandant's cottage and also in the original small arms store just inside the entrance to the tunnel complex. Because the rooms are small and do not lend themselves to a logical and easy pedestrian flow, I decided to plan the exhibition on a timeline basis and it is staged along the following lines.
Stage1 - Room 1 covering the Period 1797 to 1881 and Room 2 covering the period 1882 to 1913.
Stage 2 - Room 3 will deal with the period 1914 to 1939 followed by Room 4 which will cover 1939 to 1945.
Stage 3 - At this point it is intended to develop and complete our firearms exhibition in the Small Arms Store. This area has been completely refurbished in readiness and I thank the Nev Dunbar, Lyle Russell and Bruce Annis-Brown for their tireless efforts in this regard.
Stage 4 - The fifth room will cover the period 1946 to 1972 and our final Room will illustrate activities on the site since 1973 to the present. Just when we complete the project overall is dependent on the availability of funding.
